I watched the trailer for Winged Creatures before I knew the full cast list. I already knew that it included Forrest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson and was surprised to find a whole slew of other amazing actors involved, including Jackie Earle Haley, Guy Pearce, Kate Beckinsale, and Big Love's Jeanne Tripplehorn. In addition, there's Dakota Fanning as a real, live teenager — not a precocious little kid.

I swear, Winged Creatures must be one of the most publicly photographed movie sets in a while. Weird. Well, it's a good thing we like the cast.

I was fine with Jennifer Hudson winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar — until I saw Adriana Barraza in Babel. I'm willing, however, to give the former "Idol" singer more chances to prove herself as an actress.
Today, Variety is reporting that Hudson might star in Winged Creatures, playing the daughter of fellow 2007 Oscar winner Forest Whitaker.

We knew Kate was changing things up for her role in the upcoming film Winged Creatures, but we didn't realize it included such a drastic dye job. From the looks of it she's playing a diner waitress in the movie -- a far cry from her ass-kicking Underworld days! We can't wait to see what Kate has in store next, though we gotta say we hope she returns to her natural gorgeous brown locks soon.

Kate Beckinsale and her hot husband Len looked fabulous as usual after a shopping spree at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. We love Kate's style and the fact that she can pull off a hat like that with such ease. Next up work-wise for Kate is a dramatic film, Winged Creatures, starring Forest Whitaker and Dakota Fanning.

Society has long associated owls with intelligence and wisdom, while Native American tribes have viewed the winged creatures as protectors against harm and evil spirits. It's no wonder many mamas-to-be have decided to bring this symbolism into their nurseries. Make a lovely lair for your lil night owl inspired by all the retro owl designs on the market.

If being a winged creature fits your child's ECOWEEN fancy, break down a box and let them get creative with colored paints. This simple kid-friendly project can turn out just about any wings from those for a fairy, butterfly, firefly, or bumble bee. Depending on your child's size, you may want to include one or two sets of elastic straps.

As if you couldn't tell, I'm a big fan of birds! I have a bunch of feeders stashed away in my closet to treat my local birds to treats whenever I can. Now of course you know that putting out certain foods will bring you a whole variety of visitors, which will give you a good opportunity to study up on different species, but my love for winged creatures doesn't stop at my window – it's making its way into my furniture!

From a young age, like many little girls, I fawned over butterflies, scribbling them everywhere in crayon. In fact, I even wrote this poem in kindergarten:
Butterflies are pretty things
Floating lightly with their wings
Higher, higher in the sky
Oh how I love the butterflies.
Nowadays my adoration of the insect is fleeting, and I actually find them rather lame when reproduced (thanks Mariah Carey).
