Zach Braff Scrubs in For Another Season

Zach may try and play all cool like he's not into the Hollywood thing (that's part of what we like about him), but we know he's not completely above it. Zach hit up super-trendy Nobu this week, probably celebrating the fact that he may become one of the highest paid actors on television. It's contract negotiation time and though Zach made no secret of his wish to leave Scrubs after this season, it looks like if the price is right we may just get another year of JD and all his floating head doctor shenanigans after all.

Scrubs Stars On Their Farewell Tour

Last night the excellent cast and creators of Scrubs got together at The Paley Center for Media in LA as part of Scrubs: The Farewell Tour. While it looks like we may never get to see the show's intended finale on our television screens, some lucky fans got to watch an episode of the show with the cast before sitting down for a Q & A session. I'm already getting ready to miss the doctors of Sacred Heart and their zany shenanigans, but at least they'll live on in reruns. Sadly, Sarah Chalke couldn't make it to the event, though I would love to ask her and Zach if JD and Elliot were going to end up together. Now that we may never know, they should answer that, right?

Scrubs Goes Up Against Grey's

The cast and crew of Scrubs celebrated their 6th Season Premiere last night at the Esquire House in Beverly Hills. And despite rumors that this might be Zach's final season, NBC is feeling very confident about the show. So confident that they are putting it up against Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights.

While most producers would be totally terrified, head honcho Bill Lawrence seems to be keeping his sense of humor about the whole thing. He says, "If NBC is counting on 'Scrubs' then they are sh*t out of luck my friend. First of all, I am a huge TV fan -- Thursday night on NBC should be comedy. Secondly, we're going to think of something to name Zach Braff's character like McSomething -- McWeenie or McCheesy or something." I guess Dr. Cox won't be short of nicknames for JD this season. We like that NBC is going back to their roots with Thursday night comedies but it's going to be hard to choose between Grey's, The OC and Scrubs. The season premiere is November 30th at 9/8 central. Is Zach Hanging up his Scrubs?

Zach is back on the set filming the 6th season of Scrubs, but he's thinking this could be his last year on the show. In fact, it may even be the last year of the show... no one knows for sure, but since the show is narrated through Braff's JD character it would be kinda hard for it to keep going. Zach said,

"My guess is that this will be my last season," he told Premiere magazine. "Whether or not they continue without me, I don't know. I have had this amazing run on the show and I love it and I'm so grateful, but I want to make movies full time."

Most actors want to make the transition from TV to the movie world, but it's not that easy. Big shot Zach has had some great success in writing and directing Garden State. Let's hope he doesn't get too cocky and forget his little friends on Scrubs.

The Cast of Scrubs Put on Their Poker Faces

The cast of Scrubs had a lot to celebrate last night after their fairy-tale season finale, but instead of poppin' champagne, they opted to try their skills at the poker table at the the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson's Research Fundraiser. Sarah Chalke looked lovely on scruffy Zach's arm while CaCee Cobb just looked happy to be with her man Donald Faison. Seems like a good time was had by all, but the real question is whether or not Zach tried to recruit a few of his friends to do a little lip syncing for the video he's directing after all the gambling fun.

Zach Braff Still Hoping For A Scrubs Finale

Zach Braff followed airport security like a good boy, taking out his Mac Powerbook to go through security at LAX yesterday. We don't usually see too much of Zach, but this is our second sighting this week. On Wednesday he and Lisa Kudrow announced the Independent Spirit Award nominations, at which he talked about the sad news that due to the writers strike, his Scrubs may never air its intended ending. He said, "This is really sad and I'm sad it's over and I hope we get to do the last six." Scrubs has been one of my favorite shows for a few years now and I would be sad to see the final season, which has taken on a more serious and at times somber tone, end before its time. Hopefully this new proposal for the writers from the producers is a step towards a deal.

Scrubs, Ashton, and Life on Mars All Go Big on ABC

Yesterday was another fun one at the TCAs in LA! Buzz and I buckled down to enjoy the first day of ABC panels, which included some swoonworthy celebrity sightings including Ashton Kutcher and newly fit Zach Braff. Check out Buzz for full news on the shows, but here are my thoughts on the day, shows, and whether or not Jonny Lee Miller wants to talk about Angelina Jolie:

The day kicked off with Eli Stone and the question on everyone's mind was Katie, Katie, Katie. We got a few more details on her role, but mostly we'll have to wait for Oct. 21 to see her return to TV singing and dancing.
When asked about Angelina Jolie, her former husband, Eli Stone star Jonny Lee Miller, said we'd have to call her. Ha.
Breaking news: The Scrubs folks are funny! While Bill Lawrence revealed that this will be Zach Braff's last year on the show, the whole group seemed excited about the move to ABC.

When asked about his recent weight loss, Zach Braff talked about being in the best shape of his life thanks to a certain someone he met about a year ago. Hmmm . . .
The whole Scrubs cast genuinely seems like they love each other, which is such a treat - Braff and Donald Faison kept talking about being best friends. Guy love between two guys. Plus, Bill Lawrence was super excited for Courteney Cox to join the cast for a few episodes, and Neil Flynn (the Janitor) jokingly revealed that his characters real name is "Zanzibar Buck Buck McPhee".
Sigh, Ashton. Nothing I love more than a man in a Red Sox hat. He was there to present the new game show he's producing, Opportunity Knocks which, briefly, is a contest about how well you know details about your family. When asked how he would do on it, Ashton said Demi would do better than he would since women are more attentive and compassionate.
When asked about whether the show was his idea, Ashton talked about no one "owning" ideas and how we're just lucky to be able to "manage" them. He also talked about having no regrets about Punk'd, but enjoying doing something more family friendly fun too. So sweet hearing him talk about his girls, awww!

What Do You Think About Seeing Zach Braff Smoking - Funny or Lame?

Zach Braff is the latest celebrity to be spotted with what looks like a certain illegal substance rolled into a joint in his hand. The Scrubs actor was relaxing with SI Swimsuit Issue model Esti Ginsburg at a party at the Greenhouse in NYC last night. While Braff's behavior is not as in your face as Michael Phelps and his infamous bong photo, smoking pot (if that's what he is doing) is still illegal. So tell us, what do you think about seeing photos of Zach Braff lighting up - funny or lame?

Braff and His Toys, Scrubs and Its Unclear Future

As part of NBC's Green Week, Zach Braff (and the Janitor!) stopped by the Scrubs Green Fair to play with some eco-friendly vehicles yesterday afternoon. While Monday's "green Heroes" was a little weak in the environmental department, maybe Scrubs will put forth a more valiant effort. Maybe JD will trade in his trusty Vespa for a greener version. I've gone from casual rerun watcher to devout fan of the show, so the first episodes of this final season have been bittersweet. Even more so since the writers' strike may mean the 18 episode season has to be cut down to 12. Considering just last week Bill Lawrence and Zach Braff didn't know exactly how the show was going to end, I'm sure they're stuck in a very hard place trying to figure out what to do with the season. Here's to hoping that the writers' demands are met soon so they can help script the poignant and funny ending this show deserves.

Mandy Moore on Scrubs

We have been eagerly awaiting Mandy Moore's guest starring role on Scrubs. On February 7th Mandy will play Zach's love interest. I can't wait to see these two work together. People reported that Zach is also excited and about his real life girlfriend and their upcoming Scrubs work.

Zach Braff raved about his ladylove, Mandy Moore, at a party celebrating the 100th episode of Scrubs at the Cabana Club in Hollywood. "Mandy is an amazing comedian and I don't think a lot of people have gotten the chance to see her do broad, physical comedy," he says about her guest-starring stint as a patient's niece (airing Feb. 7). "It really gave her a chance to show off that side of her."

And Braff isn't the only one who'd like to see more of Moore. "In the first day she had to be aged to 80, make out with me and do pratfalls. We want her to come and be a regular with us," Scrubs actress Sarah Chalke told us. And what does she think of the singer-actress's relationship with her costar? "They are the sweetest couple," Chalke says.

No one ever seems to have a bad thing to say about Mandy.
