Apple Releases a New, Affordable iPad
Apple didn't reveal a new iPad Pro model, but it did announce a cheaper replacement for the iPad Air 2. The company released details of a new 9.7-inch iPad, which you can read about ahead.
- Same colors: The iPad will come in silver, gold, and space gray. Unfortunately, the rose gold color option is still only available for the iPad pro model.
- A new chip: This iPad will come with a 64-bit A9 chip.
- Same camera specs: The front-facing camera is still 1.2 megapixels, and the rear-facing camera is 8 megapixels.
- It's heavier than the iPad Air 2: The new iPad is 7.5mm thick and weighs 1.03 pounds, while the iPad Air 2 was 6.1mm and weighed 0.96 pounds.
- Pricing: The 32GB WiFi model will cost $329, and the 32GB WiFi with cellular model will cost $459.
- Availability: You can order the new iPad starting on March 24, with deliveries starting next week.
The company also announced that the iPad Mini 4 is now only available in a 128GB WiFi model for $399 and a 128GB WiFi and cellular model for $529.
