About.Me Out of Beta

Website of the Day: About.me

Business cards are so outdated. The fact is that nowadays, people want to share so much more than a name and a phone number with potential clients and friends. You want people to see the whole you — Twitter, Facebook, and your resume can tell the story of who you are — but you don't want to weigh someone down with five different links, or send them off on a wild digital goose chase to track down your numerous online accounts. This is where About.me comes in.

About.me provides a single landing page for all your social networks, websites, and online resumes, so you can give one address (about.me/yourname), and make it easy on the people you may want to work with. Setting up a profile is a snap; I set this one up in about five minutes, and for the best results you'll want a high-resolution photo (largest you can upload is 1680x1050). It's a fantastic looking page, and customizable, too: you can adjust fonts, colors, even placement of the text box. Put your best face forward!
