Apple's App Store Becoming the Crap Store?!

What's the Most You've Paid For an App?

It's true that I sometimes complain about how expensive some iPhone apps can be. Although paying $15 for a language learning app doesn't seem unreasonable, there are tons of other translation apps out there that are much more wallet-friendly that catch my eye.

Recently, CNN wondered about the potential of the App Store to become the "Crap Store," with its high number of featured free and 99-cent apps (that may be lacking in quality), while more expensive and useful apps get less promotional love because of their price tag. I'm totally willing to pay a higher price for a good app, but I'll admit that I tend to search the free apps before anything else.

Tell me — what is the most you've paid for an app?

all of the apps that i have on my phone are the free ones. i don't know why - but i'm really against having to pay for them unless they give a lot of value to me in some way shape or form.

$2.99 for the Price is Right. My fear of buying an app is that what if I don't like it. Too bad that there isn't a trial version.

I don't like paying tons of money for apps, but I generally will pay the ones up to $10 if I think it's really worth it.

9.99 for the Spore Origins game, it's a good game, though I don't think it's worth that. Most apps I download are free though. Best one ever though was 3.99, Toy Bot, now that's a fun game.

The most I paid was for Labyrinth. It says it is $6.99, but I think I bought it for 5 or 6 dollars. I know I didn't spend 7. But it is a great fun game.

I paid something like $15 for Scrabble, but it was worth every penny because I use it every single day.

The most I've paid for an app is $5.00. ($4.99) for the Tranquil Alarm app. It was definitely worth the money. (I hate feeling jerked awake from sleeping. The sounds are more soothing and gentle than the regular sounds on the phone.) But I usually look for free apps first and once I've exhausted all my free apps for a particular thing (like a To Do list) then, I consider purchasing an app.

I think 'free' should have been on the poll choices, because I refuse to pay for any apps for my touch, knowing it may not be mine forever.

ive heard theres an app that costs $1000 and all it does is state 'im rich' when its turned on. and apparently its sold at least 23, which means the creator got 23K for basically nothing! its genius and ridiculousness in one
