Apple Releases New MacBook Pro Lineup Available Now

Updated MacBook Pros Land in Stores

Apple has finally hit the refresh button on its line of MacBook Pros after months of speculation and sneaks them into stores so you can pick one up today. Highlights of the new 13-, 15-, and 17-inch MacBook laptops include upgraded graphics cards, longer battery life, and faster i5 and i7 Intel processors.

The smallest of the bunch, the 13-inch MacBook Pros, aren't so tiny inside, as they come stocked with 4GB of RAM, 10 hours of battery life, and either a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor with 250GB hard drive bundle or 2.66 GHz and 320GB bundle starting at $1,200.

Get the details on the 15- and 17-inch models after the break.

Apple is boasting that the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros are 50 percent faster than previous models with their new i5 and i7 Intel processors, and they are stocked with two graphics cards — the new NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M and Intel HD Graphics — to make watching movies, playing 3D games, and technical software run seamlessly, while the eight- to nine-hour battery span will allow you to work or play for longer.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro comes in three flavors starting at $1,800: a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5, 320GB hard drive combo; a 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5, 500GB hard drive at $1,999; and a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7, 500GB hard drive at $2,199. The 17-inch model will come stocked with a 2.53 GHz Intel Core i5 and 500GB hard drive for $2,299, while all models will feature the glass Multi-Touch trackpad inertial scrolling for faster photo and web browsing. Additionally, all MBPs will come with wide-angle LED back-lit displays, while the 17-inch version comes with a nice high res 1920 x 1200 display.

I bought a 15-inch with a 2.8 GHz processor about 6 weeks ago. I was waiting and waiting and couldn't wait anymore. Oh well, I guess I'm stuck with it for a few years.

I'm in a similar position to shmay. I've been waiting for months to get a MBP, and had convinced myself to downgrade from a 15-inch Dell to a 13-in MBP, but the "new" 13-in MBP has too much in common with my nearly 3-year old Core Duo Dell to warrant buying it. However, my Dell is falling apart (no battery, case falling apart literally, won't boot past the Welcome screen 2 out of 3 times, etc), so I need a new laptop. Geek, what do you think? I want a laptop that will last 3-plus years. I'm not a big-time gamer. I use A LOT of Microsoft Office (no interest in switching to iWork) and Firefox with many tabs open at once. What MBP should I get?

Finally, I've been waiting for this refresh since last December. I'm a little disappointed that not much has been done for the 13". They just increased the standard RAM. I was hoping for an i5 processor. Oh well, time to finally buy my MBP after months of waiting.
