Artsy App

An App That Brings World-Class Art to Your Fingertips

This may sound too good to be true, but lucky for us, it's 100 percent real. You know Artsy as the beautiful website that features more than 50,000 pieces of fine art to browse and buy. Now (as of last Wednesday), you can download the free Artsy app, designed for iOS7, which lets you do the same.

If you've ever wanted to see a Warhol or Monet up close, this is your chance. The app hosts 50,000 high-quality photos of art from more than 600 recognized museums, galleries, and organizations around the world (including the Guggenheim and the British Museum). Plus, it promises that its zoom capabilities are so high, you can see a painting's individual brushstrokes. Wowza!

If you really want a piece that's for sale, you can buy it with your phone, as long as it costs no more than $10,000, in which case, you buy it through the seller. But if you're a little unsure, the app goes one step further by connecting you with trained specialists from houses like Sotheby’s.

There you have it: art that you can see and purchase instantly no matter where you are. Game changer? Most definitely.
