RIM has announced a new BlackBerry Curve, and T-Mobile confirmed it will carry the device. The Curve 3G — aka the Curve 9300 — comes in either a smokey violet or graphite gray finish along with 3G and WiFi connectivity, a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 display, optical trackpad, and a 2MP camera. The device ships running BlackBerry OS 5, but RIM confirms it is "BlackBerry 6 ready," which should allow T-Mobile customers to update to the new, shiny OS upon its release.
While the latest Curve doesn't have all the bells and whistles of AT&T's BlackBerry Torch, the Curve is a much-loved device with a generally low price point. T-Mobile has not yet released pricing or availability details (but has mentioned that the Curve 3G should be hitting shelves "in the coming weeks" via a press email), but its ability to upgrade to BlackBerry 6 is good news for customers who may not be ready to shell out for a pricey new device.
