How Bill Nye's Astronomy Teacher, Carl Sagan, Changed His World

You may have noticed there's a bit of a science renaissance currently happening in pop culture. Cosmos with Neil deGrasse Tyson has taken over our Sunday-night TV, Gravity was the star of the Academy Awards, and funnyman Craig Ferguson will soon host a show about the "lighter side" of science. Arguably, the first wave of science-as-entertainment came over 30 years ago when astrophysicist Carl Sagan took to American television in Cosmos: A Personal Voyage, with which he inspired not just viewers at home, but also the next generation of science evangelists.
