Mid-afternoon Tuesday, Charlie Sheen created a verified Twitter account, which amassed nearly 170,000 followers in the first four hours — before he even posted a tweet. When he did, he posted a photo that immediately received hundreds of thousands of views. There are plenty of spoof sites, one in particular that has over 70,000 Facebook Likes, and everyone from CNN to TMZ is reporting Sheen's every move.
I'm still on an ethical fence about whether all of this visibility is helpful or hurtful. On one hand, he seems to be welcoming the attention. On the other, it's very hard to watch what looks like someone completely losing his grip on reality. The Internet is amazing for immediate access and a person's sense of expression; unfortunately it's also very permanent. Have an opinion? Share it below.
