Dancing With the Stars Hide the Apple Logo on Laptops

Dancing With the Stars Hides Apple Logos Too

On Dancing With the Stars the other night, I was not only thoroughly entertained by Steve Wozniak's worm dance and samba moves, but I could hardly believe my eyes when gymnast Shawn Johnson and her dance partner Mark Ballas chatted with Shawn's hometown friends over iChat. It wasn't the iChat that grabbed my attention, but the huge square black stickers covering the Apple logos on the back of the MacBook and MacBook Pro! Granted ABC isn't the first network to do this, but I'd love to know how much a company like Apple would have to pay ABC to endorse Apple products and show off the glowing MacBook apple. C'mon, at the very least, represent for the Woz.

It's so dumb when they do that. All they do is call even more attention to the product cause everybody knows what it is.

tsp I have to agree with you. Nothing says "hey you have a Mac" like a silly sticker in the middle of the lid.

i will never understand why they don't at least cover these up with something cool, like a gelaskin (i love mine!). honestly, the black sticker in this case (or other solutions i've seen) draws MORE attention to the fact that their using a Mac. so bizarre.

If Apple is not sponsoring the show, then there's no reason for the show producer's to give them free advertising. And if they are being sponsored by a different computer company, then it is likely that displaying a competitor's logos would upset their sponsors.

I thought it was strange since the Woz is a contestant this season. Like we couldn't tell anyway, though.

Well, Apple definitely made money by advertising the iPhone during DWTS' commercials, so I don't think covering up the Apple Logo is THAT big of an issue. Everybody can already tell what computer it is anyway.

Hah! I mean if everyone can tell it's Apple already, I'm sure that dramatically reduces Apple's incentive to pay networks like ABC!
