In any customer service-heavy industry, social networks can be a useful tool. Which is why social networking has been such a natural fit for airlines — many have taken to Twitter and Facebook, offering special fares via Twitter, and talking to and connecting with patrons to create a more user-friendly and happy flying experience. Now, Delta is taking social media to the next level, opening a social media ticket window on Facebook.

Any Facebook user can use the page to book an airline ticket on Delta without visiting its site for no additional fee. To use the ticket window, users can click on the "Book a Ticket" tab on Delta's Facebook page. The service looks simple enough; just enter the dates and locations to search for a flight.
Since I'm a bigger fan of comparison shopping, I don't know that I'd use this feature. These flights are limited to Delta only, so there's no way to to compare prices to any other airline. But for frequent Delta fliers, it could be a convenient option. What do you think? Would you use it if more airlines were included?
