Dish Network Streaming TV to the Internet

Dish Network Introduces Online Streaming to Subscribers

The recent push for streaming TV has gone far beyond Hulu. Not only are Verizon and HBO offering up streaming options to their customers, but the Dish Network is quickly gaining traction in the satellite and cable arena. First came the Dish Networks' announcement that it would offer up live satellite TV to subscribers on mobile devices like the iPad, and now the company is taking on cable with their new service, DishOnline.com.

Find out how it works after the break.

Starting today, Dish Network subscribers will be able to view shows from popular channels like MTV, SyFy, NBC, and HGTV via the DishOnline website, check out clips and trailers from movies, get previews from their favorite shows, rent on-demand movies, watch behind the scenes extras, and more. Additionally, if you're a Dish Network customer with a VIP 922 SlingLoaded DVR (around $200), you can stream live shows online from your home system from anywhere by hopping online. You can even program and manage your at-home DVR with an iPhone app, and watch it on the go.

I'm glad that networks, cable, and satellite providers are waking up to the idea that customers want to get their content in other ways, rather than just sitting on the couch in front of the tube. I mean you're already paying for the content, why not have a choice on how you consume it?
