Do You Ever Have Difficulty Reading a Site Security Code?

Do You Ever Have Difficulty Making Out a Site Security Code?

You know those little encrypted passwords and codes you're sometimes required to enter before paying for something or accessing a certain feature of a website?

Gone are the days when they were actually legible, because now I can hardly read them! I realize that they are used to block spammers, hackers, and bots, but they are getting so sophisticated that I can barely make out the numbers and letters.

I mean this one isn't that bad, but it did take me a few seconds to make out what the letters were — just frustrating and slows me down when I'm trying to make a split-second purchase!

Are you noticing that they are getting increasingly more difficult as well?

Skigurl & ameliajc are totally right! I've, too missed out on good seats on Ticketmaster due to not being able to figure it out. The handicapped feature isn't better at all, either. It sounds horridly distorted.

I have no idea why sites aren't implementing kitten captchas instead (http://www.thepcspy.com/kittenauth). It's all warm and fuzzy rather than WTF.

I had one of those once that I absolutely couldn't read, so I tried the handicapped feature for blind users. It sounded like a schizophrenic demon coming through my speaker! Those things are awful.

sometimes, some sites have easy ones that are easy to read but other sites take me 2 or 3 times.

Some sites have really complex codes! Definitely frustrating. My boss was trying to explain that he wanted this sort of thing on his site, and he kept calling it a "robot thing that sits on the page" or something. To prevent the robots from getting in. It was weird.
