DropClock: The Most Aesthetically Pleasing Screen Saver I've Laid Eyes On

DropClock: The Most Aesthetically Pleasing Screen Saver I've Laid Eyes On

It's been awhile since I've updated my screen saver. I guess I kinda got sick of the default ones which usually show random shapes flying all over your screen — headache much? Needless to say, I need a new one, so when I came across Dropclock, an ingenious and minimalistic screen saver, I knew I had to take it for a test drive. What's neat about DropClock is that it features a motion clock where every minute of real time is numerically expressed with a number dropping into water in slow-motion. Check out the video below to see what I mean. DropClock is available for download for both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Ha!!! That's funny Macgirl. Okay, three cheers for "Helvetica Neue" (I think there's only one version of that font floating around). Really though, it's too bad that you have to end up dealing with folks who don't manage their fonts better. Having 15 different versions of Helvetica open on your computer is going to slow it down more than a 137mb screensaver ;)

i agree. this is a lot better than the random shapes, but i don't think it's that great to sacrifice my computer speed

Yeah I'm going to have to say no to 137mb's for a helper app. Nothing like slowing the machine down. It is VERY pretty though. I don't think you could do something with realistic water rendering for much smaller though.

I have the Fliqlo one as mentioned by zalary and I love it! I've actually gotten a lot of compliments for it.

I read about this in the Download Dispatch from download.com (mac version) - and had thought it sounded kinda cool... I have been using a flickr screensaver, so my screensaver is random pictures from flickr... but am considering switching to this... hm.

I would like to try this out, but am a little challenged... how do you chose it as your default screensaver?

Eh. Not so much. Plus at 137MB I'm wondering what else they've put in there. I'm really leery about spyware.
