FYI: Where Not to Buy a Kindle

If you had your hopes set on getting a Kindle this holiday season, I hate to break it to you but you may be outta luck. Not only because they are sold out till after Christmas, but because you may not get wireless connectivity where you live, making your Kindle virtually useless. Gizmodo has noted that the Kindle, which is dependent on the Sprint network, will only work in or near the green zones in the map below. Therefore, if you currently reside in one of the vast majority of white regions, don't bother expensing out on one just yet. Let's just hope Sprint improves their coverage in the near future to compensate for the popularity of the Kindle. Just to be on the safe side you can also check to see if you are included in the coverage zones.

Looks like I'm covered. However I currently live in a city, which as it has been pointed out - helps.I figure it may not be so bad. Once you get your books on - for the MOST part you don't really NEED net access. You'll be busy reading.

Unfortunately this article leads you to believe that the only way to manage your content is to get it on Sprint's network. You can use a USB cable and transfer files directly to the device. This way you can use it if you are in an uncovered Sprint area, or if you wanted to put your own content on the device.

It looks like you're screwed if you don't live near a city. As a city girl, it doesn't bother me.
