Fax Documents and Make Copies With Your Cell Phone With Qipit

Website of the Day: Qipit

It seems like I never have to fax anyone anything anymore, but when I do, it's always something important. And when I'm not in an office or on the run, I don't have access to one. From now on, instead of sweating until I find a Kinko's I'm going to use qipit. If you have a camera phone, all you have to do is take a picture of the document you need and qipit will turn that into a PDF, which you can then fax.

With qipit, you can also take cellphone pics of notes and white boards, which would be great for classrooms — instant notes for school on your cell phone! Qipit turns them into digital documents you can store (you email them the picture and they email you back the PDF instantly), rather than having to store your notes in your phone's camera roll. You'll need to log in to get started and best of all, it's free!

This is a cool idea but the phones that are able to produce high enough quality images are few. According to the site, not even the iphone can handle capturing printed documents - only white boards and handwritten notes. I have a Razr and they said it would only do whiteboards - BUMMER. looks like you're in luck if you have a new Nokia though. Those seem to have tested well. Oh well, nice idea anyway.

Oh, they always have things like that in Japan, they have ads on all sorts of packages which if you take a picture with your cell phone, you can actually tell what it is. Anyhow, pretty cool.

That's a great idea! I know that my mom usually would have to fax things for me, like application forms and stuff when I was rushing to meet a deadline, and she would have to go to work and do it. This is a really good idea, but I don't know that she would understand how to e-mail the picture. This seems more like it's for younger people when older people are most likely the people to be doing any faxing.
