Firefox 4 Beta Ready For Download

Mozilla has just released the first beta version of Firefox 4 for users to download and test. It comes with lots of new features that are predominately for Windows users now, but Mac and Linux fans aren't far behind and will see all of the changes for themselves soon. Firefox is one of the top browsers used today (while Firefox 3 is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most downloaded browser in 24 hours), so if you're a Firefox fan, get ready for another refresh!

  • The browser got a bit of a facelift with the tabs being moved to the top. (Windows)
  • Menu bar was replaced with a single Firefox button. (Windows)
  • New Add-ons manager for easier organization. (Windows)
  • HD video in HTML5 WebM format. (Windows)
  • Privacy improvements that help keep your browsing history safe. (Windows)
  • Bookmarks toolbar has been replaced by a bookmarks button.
  • Stop and reload buttons have merged into one button.
  • Faster start-up times and performance.
  • Search and switch to open tabs from the Smart Location bar.
  • Best of all? Crash protection that allows you to resume browsing even after a plugin (like Flash, Quicktime, or Silverlight) freezes just by refreshing the page!
