Funny Tech Stories: No One Puts My Nook in a Corner

Geek community member morganashley shared this hilarious story in our Funny Tech Stories group:

I finally caved and bought a WiFi Nook over the weekend. After scanning the many (many!) pages of free yet oft-smutty titles, I started an eWishList so I could figure out which books I wanted to buy and load on my new device first. Today I was IMing with my mom and shared my new purchase story with her when we hit a bit of a techie lost-in-translation situation.

Find out what happened after the break.

Me: I bought a Nook over the weekend and now I need to get some books to put on it. Do you know what that is?
My mom: I think so. Something that fits in a corner?

In her defense, I did recently move and just last week I told her about my new bookcase. I'm curious what her guess would have been if I had went with the Kindle!

You can get a big list of free books on the Nook by typing 0.00 on the search bar. That will take you to a list of literally hundreds of free books.

At least your mom knows what the Kindle is. My mom probably thinks it's something you start a fire with.

The free books are all pretty lame, I agree. I started making an eWish list of books I wanted to buy and downloaded some of the free classics that they had last week. My friend downloads free books from third party sites in EPUB or other formats not supported by the Kindle but that work on the Nook with no problem. Also, as an update, I was talking to my mom again and she came out with "...so is that like a Kindle?" Clearly Amazon's marketing reached her where B&N did not!

That's pretty cute.
