Geek Tip: Page Up Page Down Faster

The next time you need to use page down or up in programs like Mail, Safari or Firefox on your Mac, try this tip from Mac Tip Blog, which is sure to be speedier than the old school method.

To go down hit the "Space bar" and to go up press "Shift + Space Bar." This is particularly useful for anyone who is using the iMac wireless keyboard which requires you to press "Function + down arrow" or "Function + up arrow."

Do you know a great shortcut or tip you think geeksugar readers should know? Share it in our 'How To' Help - Guide To All Things Geeky group,

I know that this long list looks scary, but trust me, once you get the hang of it, it'll be a snap the second time around.

  1. First of all, join the 'How To' Help - Guide To All Things Geeky
  2. Click "Create and Share!" on the left hand side
  3. Choose "Blog"
  4. Give your photo a Title
  5. Leave the category as "general"
  6. Change the channel to "technology and gadgets"
  7. Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Geek tip")
  8. Click on the "Add Image" link below the "body" box
  9. A popup window will happen - click on "Browse" to find your image on your computer
  10. Once you have the image chosen, click "Submit"
  11. The popup will show you your image, choose size: "normal" - if you want, you can give it a title (which will show up as a caption)
  12. Click "Insert" and the popup will go away
  13. Your "body" box will now have some text in it. Leave it as is. If you want to add some text before the picture telling me why you think this person is geeky, do it before the code that has appeared.
  14. Click Submit

So join the 'How To' Help - Guide To All Things Geeky and start sharing your favorite tips! Your tricks just might end up on the geeksugar homepage!

Well, if you folks don't have Quicksilver and/or Sizzling Keys, you need 'em. They rock. I have shortcuts assigned for the programs I use the most (ichat, mail, etc). I also have shortcuts set up to launch a new tab and go to Facebook. :) Or, I have one that allows me to type opt/cmd/G, it pulls up a screen, I type in what I want to search on Google, hit enter, badabing, it's there on Google. All of that is done with Quicksilver. Create your own reality. :)
