Get an iPod Touch On the Cheap

Sure you love Apple products and all, but you just got a new cell, so you don't need a new iPhone 3G, and you can't justify spending $300 - $500 (depending on size) for a new iPod Touch. For those of you who are cool with purchasing refurbished electronics, the Apple store is offering refurbished 8GB and 16GB versions of the iPod Touch for $50 less than the original price tag. So basically that's $199 for the 8 and $299 for the 16GB. If you're still on the fence about refurbished gadgets, I've only heard good things about Apple since refurb'd products come as good as new — no one would ever know the difference!

When I was considering buying a MacBook Pro, I asked the Apple addict at work about the quality of refurbished Apple products. He said that refurbished products are just as good if not better than the brand new ones, because they have to pass a certain number of points on an inspection. On his advice I bought a refurbished MBP and even the people in the Apple store couldn't tell it wasn't brand new. I've been very pleased with it and personally would buy more refurbished Apple products if I needed them.

I bought a refurbished phone (a sony) and it works wonderful. The best part was I got a $200 phone for $20. It came in a box wrapped up just like a new phone. Anyone who looked at it would have thought it was new.

@Allyace the iPod touch has internet too, it just runs off of wifi alone. It's ideal for people who are locked in contracts with other cell phone companies, or live outside the US and aren't able to leave their contracts. Also, there isn't a monthly cell phone bill attached every month.

it's time for apple to reduce the price of the ipod touch. they reduced the phones so this should follow. otherwise, why get it?

I'm actually planning to buy a refurbished 8gb iPod Touch from Apple next month. I think a lot of people are missing out since they automatically think that anything refurbished is going to be riddled with problems. That's not always the case.

I bought a refurbished Macbook pro and it was $400 bucks cheaper. In my eyes, getting a refurbished product (especially with Apple) would be a little better because if the product you get has had problems in the past, they were fixed, and now work better than a newer product. And usually, 50% of the time, when you get a "refurbished" prodcut, you probably are getting a new product.Scenario: A person orders a 2.4 GHz Macbook Pro, and instead gets a 2.2 GHz. They open the box, turn it on ... and play with it for a couple of hours. They realize it's not a 2.4 GHz. They call Apple, and return the Macbook Pro. The mbpro they returned is considered "refurbished" even though it was barely touched!

I agree sfbutterfly. I also don't get why the iPod touches are so expensive. How can the one w/ a phone/internet function be less? That makes no sense.

I bought an ipod refurbished. I only had a few tiny issues in the beginning but it works fine now. I think I may buy one of these! I've been wanting one for awhile (really I want an iphone but I'm locked into a contract with verizon and I really like their service) so I may do this. Thanks Geeksugar! I don't think I would have thought of this before!
