Online holiday shopping just got a little easier with Google's improved product search. Mixing online and offline shopping, the improved product search allows you to search for an item, check out reviews, and even find its availability in a store near you in a new feature that partners with retail stores for real-time availability.
For more about the new features, including how Google is attempting to make the online shopping experience more like the one you get in-store, keep reading.
According to research, 93 percent of buying experiences happen in an actual store, but 46 percent are researched online first (this includes accessing research and reviews from a mobile device while inside a store). So, taking a cue from physical stores, Google will add aisles and popular products to its shopping pages. Searching for a product will yield the most popular result first and will also include a categorized list of similar products, not unlike an aisle you'd find in a traditional store.
Whether you prefer to get your holiday shopping done online or off, Google hopes these improvements will help make a sometimes painful process ridiculously simple.
