Yay! Science! Dr. Susan Hayes of the University of Wollongong conducted workshops in something called "evidence-based facial approximation," which re-creates a person's facial appearance based on their skull. Dr. Hayes has been working on the remains of Homo floresiensis, a 30-year-old female nicknamed "Hobbit" discovered nine years ago in Flores, Indonesia, by Professor Mike Morwood and the Liang Bua archaeological team.
This image represents the stages of Dr. Hayes's facial reconstruction of the "Hobbit" remains.
