How to Watch the Olympics Online

Watch the Olympics Live With NBC's Mobile Apps

Adobe and NBC Olympics have released two official NBC Olympics apps — both free and compatible with the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and select Android devices. The apps will provide live broadcast streams of over 3,500 hours of Olympic events. Users can provide the login and password of their pay-TV subscription for full access, and the apps are interconnected for a simple, streamlined coverage approach.

The NBC Olympics Live Extra app for iOS and Android devices allows you to watch every moment of the games live. Along with full event replays, you can also watch the Gold Zone Live streaming channel to see all the gold medal events in real time. The corresponding NBC Olympics app provides news articles and video segments, plus photos from every sport and all the Team USA athletes.

Social media plays a major role too: users can follow their favorite sports, teams, and athletes, plus share content with friends via Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. One of the most convenient features? You can set reminders for upcoming events and receive push notifications for start times so that you never miss an event.

The big problem with most of NBC's online coverage of the Olympics is that it is restricted to only cable or satellite subscribers.  If you are not one of those, then this solution I found may be helpful to you too -- check out  - there's even a video explaining exactly how to watch olympics online without cable.

It seems like social media is going to be the real gold medal winner for the Olympic Games; it’s already stirring up some controversy with athletes posting dumb remarks and then getting sent home. I may check out the NBC apps, but when I’m away from home I plan on using the Dish Remote Access App for my iPad to watch live coverage and stored matches on my DVR. The app’s already helped me catch up on yesterday’s beach volleyball games while I was commuting to work this morning. My coworkers at Dish can’t get enough beach volleyball. But I have to confess I am starting to get addicted to that table tennis!
