Knock Off Gadgets and Goods to Be Donated to the Poor

Knock Off Gadgets and Goods to Be Donated to the Poor

Last year alone, the US Customs and Border Protection seized an estimated 23 million dollars worth of counterfeit consumer electronics. In addition to knock off gadgets like iPods and TVs, they also seize items including clothing, shoes, household goods, and toys. New York and New Jersey customs checkpoints — both airports and seaports — have decided to emulate other US checkpoint locations by kicking off a program next month to donate the cargo items to the poor in third world countries. Naturally, they will primarily focus on distributing items of need — like clothing and footwear — before electronics and handbags. Trademark owners are usually open to donating the goods once the fake logos are removed.

ok for huuuuge companies like apple and even designer labels i dont see the problem really with counterfiets, I mean if you want a countefeit item, chances are you want it because you arent in the price bracket to get the real item, which i totally understand i mean i love louis vuitton but im not going to save money from a small town job to buy a three or four thousand dollar bag, thats riddiculous i could buy a used car for that amount of money. If you dont want to worry about counterfeit goods then dont make your items such a luxury purchase, everyone likes it clearly but you expect them to go without because companies are money grubbing, Even with counterfeit goods sold these companies still make tons of money so i dont see the problem, oh wait yes i do, its called greed. in my opinion anyway.

What a cool idea! Aren't there people in the US though who might need it too?
