Man Sentenced For Killing His Friend Over a Facebook "Poke"

Yikes. A 27-year-old man from England named Scott Humphrey has been sentenced to four years in prison for beating his friend Richard Rovetto to death. The reason for the altercation? Rovetto "poked" Humphrey's girlfriend on Facebook.

Apparently the two took a cab together when Humphrey asked, "If you're such a good friend, why did you poke my missus?" Once the taxi ride ended, Humphrey punched Rovetto again, causing him to fall and hit his head on the pavement before dying at a hospital hours later. In the cab, Rovetto reportedly told Humphrey that he didn't know the woman was his girlfriend.

It's not the only time a Facebook "poke" has led to an arrest — a woman was prosecuted for using a "poke" to communicate with someone who had a restraining order against her.
