Microsoft Kin Development Stopped

Microsoft Stops Work on Kin to Focus on Windows Phone

Microsoft announced that it has stopped working on Kin phones in an effort to focus on its Windows phone software. The Kin, a phone designed for social networking, was targeted toward young adults, giving them easy access to post photos and share content among social networks like Facebook and Twitter. I was impressed by the small but mighty Kin One when I had the chance to try it out, so I'm a little shocked by this news.

The team working on the Kin has been folded into the Windows Mobile team. Additionally, the Kin's planned release in Europe has been canceled. Since the Kin does not have the capability to run apps, it's limited by the functionality that comes built into the phone; perhaps this was one of the factors in Microsoft's decision to halt further development.
