Microsoft's New Parental Street Cred Videos . . .

Microsoft's New Parental Street Cred Videos . . .

Microsoft has just come out with a series of new Xbox 360 video ads called "Parental Street Cred" which I hate to say, don't exactly achieve their goal of making the Xbox seem like a fun "family-friendly" device. Is this video targeted to kids? Or maybe the parents? Check out one of the videos below and let me know if it confuses you as well!

roxymoxi-LOL This ad could be good if it weren't so...off. The blonde 'scientist' dancing like that isn't appropriate for a kid's commercial about parents dancing to entertain their kids(what kind of mother would dance like that for her kids??)...and im sure moms aren't too crazy about THAT image being how mothers are represented. I think this is targeted more towards the kids than the parents. So maybe I just don't get it?

I think it would have worked better if the actors dancing were supposed to be the parents they're talking about (and danced in a dorky fashion). That would have made sense.

I'm not sure these are really going to reach their target audience. If they're targeted at parents, then I don't really think viral videos are the right way to go. And I don't think kids are really going to find them all that funny. It's too bad because Microsoft's "jump in" Xbox campaign is really cool. Why they didn't make more videos like this is a mystery to me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFQv8zQ7ttc

That "mom's" dance was just.... Wow. Maybe that's why I don't have a husband. I need to learn how to back it up!

If a mother is dancing like THAT to get her children's attention, she's probably not a very good mother to begin with. Also, are there ANY kid-friendly games (besides Viva Pinata) for the 360? If you want family entertainment, get the Wii. Anyone with a brain will tell you that.

I would rather entertain my children with outdoor activities, books, and boardgames then plop them in front of the TV with an XBOX 360. This ad seemed to miss the mark. Perhaps the reason children are diagnosed with ADD (don't get me started on inaccurate diagnoses) is because they are exposed to constant marketing and flashy video games. I don't think a rapid first person shooter game is going to make someone's children able to concentrate better. I also don't think a parent booty dancing to entertain their child is funny at all.

I thought it was funny. And I'm sure the dad's who are probably more likely to buy an Xbox for their kids wouldn't mind the 'hot blonde scientist'. I know a couple of guys who play video games with their kids and I think its adorable and wish my dad had done the same.

Honestly, if I were a parent and Microsoft wanted me to buy a 360 for my kids, the last thing I'd want to see would be a sexy blonde scientist dancing with questionable taste. The entire thing seemed stupid and more than a little desperate.

Um.. they kind of remind me of the mac ads.. maybe the music and the all-white background?

So, parents are horrible at entertaining their kids, and should buy an xbox 360...

They are pretty funny. I watched the others on youtube and I dont think they are marketing the parents.
