Best of 2010: Most Shocking News Story

It was a big year for tech news, and it wasn't without its shockers! Amid the top stories this year, the Queen joined Facebook, the iPhone 4 had some serious antenna issues, and the white iPhone remained the stuff of lore, as it experienced production problems and has yet to hit shelves. But the biggest tech news story as voted by you? The end of unlimited data plans for smartphones.

AT&T started the trend in June, and Verizon announced it would be following suit with its own tiered plans. Luckily, existing users were grandfathered into their current unlimited plans, but the new policy could cause trouble for new subscribers needing to choose the right plan for each of their 3G-enabled gadgets. And with the rise of tablets (especially the iPad), it's likely these plans will continue.

There's still time to vote in the rest of our Best of 2010 polls, so be sure to cast your ballot for what you think is the best of the year!
