Good news, BlackBerry fans! RIM just announced two new BlackBerry smartphones coming next month: the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and the BlackBerry Pearl 9100. Both new devices feature BlackBerry's new optical trackpad (no more malfunctioning trackball!) and 3G connectivity, which was missing on previous versions of the BlackBerry Pearl. The new Pearl has a 360x400 pixel display, 624MHz processor, and 3.2 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus. The new Bold features built-in GPS and WiFi, high resolution 480x360 screen, Micro SD card, 512 MB Flash memory, and 3.2 megapixel camera with flash. The new BlackBerrys will be available to customers starting in late May.
Because neither device announcement clarified which OS the new BlackBerrys will run, many are speculating that OS 6.0 will be announced shortly, perhaps as soon as tomorrow.
