When Amazon released its newest Kindle, a smart ad took direct aim at the iPad, highlighting the fact that you can read the Kindle in bright light with no glare. The commercial was effective because of its simplicity and humor. But now the latest Kindle ad, which just debuted, sort of takes the concept a little too far.
The new ad ad is clearly targeted at 20-somethings, and features a bunch of hip characters frolicking in the city/at the beach/during a sunset . . . while holding a Kindle. The addition of the ereader is almost comical; I watched it three times and giggled each time because no one actually behaves like that. To be fair, I love my Kindle and use it regularly, just not while running during sunset.
