Painted Floppy Disk Necklace: Love It or Leave It?

When it comes to tech, so many people misuse the word "obsolete." Just because a newer version of something comes out (ahem iPhone 3G), does not always make the previous version obsolete. It's still functional technology. It just makes you envious of others with the newer one.

That being said, I will totally concede that floppy discs are obsolete. A technology whose time in the sun is as behind as dinosaurs, what are you supposed to do with those useless pieces of black plastic? In this age of green, you don't just throw them away — nope, you reuse. Etsy seller tgarcia has refashioned floppy discs into one-of-a-kind, hand-painted necklaces. However you feel about the chic factor, check out the painting: "Here's to you." An excellent farewell to the disc that was floppy.

Wow, just wow. I'm not feeling it, but then I have some odd art items myself. To each their own.

I was going to choose "leave it" but I think it might actually look cute with the right tee and accessories.

I think it's great to recycle! It's a little too much "Flavor Flav" for me though.

I have clear floppies in yummy candy/jewel-tone colors that would be better candidates for this kind of thing, and I still wouldn't wear those as jewelry. Don't rule out all media, though. I definitely want to buy one of these to wear: http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/ModDetail.asp?ModNo=137&LangNo=0
