You may have noticed an abnormal amount of geeks wandering the streets with their eyes glazed over yesterday — Sony warned gamers to keep their earlier-generation PS3s turned off after some faulty software led to a PlayStation Network meltdown, which then began affecting the consoles themselves. yes, if you have a chubby early gen ps3 . If you have a slim ps3 then nothing was affected.

It was awful, the hubby was quite crabby and ready to go out and buy a new PS3. LOL!! We were scared to lose all our trophies and such. The worst part about it was not being able to play the games you paid for and downloaded from the PSN.

actually just as a correction, not to be rude, or anything but it wasnt the later model ps3's it was the earlier models, the fat ones, not the slim ones that were having issues. And SPooge, if you check ps3 fan boy you will always hear news and updates about this kind of thing. they are calling it akin to a y2k bug where any game involving trophys, online or not was rendered unplayable.
