Sorry, Barbie, but according to a recent Nielsen study, the gift kids covet most this holiday season is — surprise, surprise — the iPad, by an overwhelming 10-percent margin over the next best, the Nintendo Wii U. Apple devices remain the top choices of children aged 6 to 12 in the US — except, well, a certain gaming console kids still flip for.
For techies 13 years and older, however, the margin between the top choice, the iPad, and its next of kin, a computer, is much smaller, at 2 percent. Older consumers have a more diversified gadget wish list, with computers, non-iPad tablets, and the Wii U besting the iPhone as a number-one pick. There's no doubt that the consumer electronics department in Santa's workshop will need to work overtime this year, so we'd still like to know: which device will Ol' Saint Nick be putting under your tree?
Is it a tablet, like the Nexus 7 or the iPad mini? Is it a computer, perhaps one that runs Windows 8? How about a smart TV such as Boxee? Or a brand-new smartphone like the iPhone 5? Maybe a gaming console, like Kinect for Xbox 360 or a PS3, is more your style. Choose which gadget you fancy below, and then tell us why in the comments.
