The Sims Wins Favorite Video Game of the Decade on GeekSugar

Best of 2009 Winner: Favorite Video Game of the Decade

And it's a sweep — The Sims 3 not only took the title for your favorite new video game of 2009, but you favor the original Sims over every other game on the Best of the Decade list!

I'm actually quite surprised that World of Warcraft didn't completely mangle the rest of the options, but I'd have to say that my favorite game of all was Mass Effect for its groundbreaking game play and epic storyline. I'm stoked to see what's next in the Mass Effect series, as well as what Sims game master Will Wright (who also brought us Spore) has up his sleeve for the next decade in simulation games!

For me The Sims 2 is the best VG, I don't know why but I don't like third version

I think The Sims is most deserving. Not only did it effectively reach out to a nearly untapped group of gamers (women... well kinda, there was Barbie Fashion Designer before it, which topped children's PC game charts in '96), it also was innovative in many ways. From new things in simulation games, a game that roughly has 50% female and 50% male designers as well as players, dynamic and flexible gameplay, encourages user made content... It's a HUGE milestone in gaming history. Not quite Mario huge, but close.
