Steve Jobs's Iconic Turtleneck Flying Off Shelves

Steve Jobs's Iconic Turtleneck Flying Off Shelves

We're happy to present this article from one of our favorite sites, Yahoo! Shine:

Steve Jobs was famous for Macs, iPods, iPads, and black turtlenecks. The Apple co-founder loved his St. Croix mock turtlenecks and often wore them with Levi's 501 jeans, and New Balance 991 sneakers to keynote addresses when unveiling exciting new product launches to the public. That was his uniform. There’s no doubt of that Jobs was a beloved figure who had a major impact on society, still, we were amazed to learn that sales of his brand of black tops went through the roof after he passed away on Wednesday. In fact, the tech leader may have inspired a bona fide fashion trend: the return of turtlenecks! Keep on reading to find out how much they cost.

Jobs' particular cotton and microfiber tops may have looked simple, but they cost up to $190. Still, a representative for the clothing company told TMZ that they’ve seen an “almost 100 percent increase in sales” since Wednesday. As for Jobs, they said “we have a great respect for everything he did and we’re glad he believed in our American-made product.”

A company spokesperson for St. Croix says it plans to memorialize Jobs, but it's still determining the most appropriate way to do so. Maybe they could rename the style and donate a percentage of proceeds to a technology fund in his name?

In the meantime, fans have taken matters into their own hands, snatching up this baggy black turtleneck in his honor. Knowing Jobs’ extreme level of influence, perhaps it's unsurprising that his legions of fans are excited about a garment he endorsed. Many across America have come up with creative ways to honor the tech genius, even leaving apples in front of Apple stores. This weekend we’ll think fondly of Steve Jobs as we type away on our Macbooks and iPhones in our own black turtlenecks.

Well, just because one man looked great in it, doesn't mean all of us will look good in it. Neither would it be probable that wearing a black turtleneck will magically confer genius on us.
