Students Get Priority Invites to Google Voice

Students Receiving Priority Invites to Google Voice

Good news for students who are aching to jump on the Google Voice train: Google announced this morning that it'll be fast-tracking student requests for access to Google Voice. All you have to do is send your request from the student-mandated request portal and plug in your school-issued .edu email address to get an invite in as little as 24 hours.

Google Voice has plenty of benefits for students and nonstudents alike, including a centralized phone number you can take with you anywhere, visual voicemail that's delivered to your inbox, and free texting to any number. Plus, Palm and iPhone users can get a free app right on their phone (the same app that comes already stocked on the Nexus One).
