Technology in He's Just Not That Into You Trailer

He's Just Not That Into . . .Technology in the Dating World

"MySpace is the new booty call!" a friend advises Drew Barrymore in this preview for He's Just Not That Into You, and later she laments:

"I had this guy leave me a voice mail at work, and so I called him at home, and he emailed me to my BlackBerry, and so I texted to his cell, and now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies. It's exhausting."

Being in a relationship, I am honestly glad I don't have to deal with said portals and can see this as merely comic relief, but I feel for Barrymore's character and people who do get the tech runaround. Have any funny or cringe-worthy experiences with dating and tech?

Does anyone know what long gold chain Drew Barrymore is wearing in the preview to the movie, "He's just not that into you? Its about 37-40 inches at least. Thanks

p.s. without technology I probably wouldn't have had any of my boyfriends after high school. They just live too far away and I'm not a phone person, but I'll IM randomly or email often enough.

If I'm not carrying my laptop, which I do most days I still check my email and messages from my iPod Touch.

I don't even talk on the phone anymore. I hate it. The only people who try to call me are the older gossipy women on my Dad's side of the family who try to rope you into horrible 50 minute conversations. Now that I don't speak on my phone much anymore, except to say "Where are you?" I can avoid them. You can email me or text me.

I don't know why most guys have to ask me out over im/email/text...It would be so nice to be asked in person..

Nope. The last guy I was into really WASN'T into technology at all though...had a horribly crappy laptop that he never used, didn't play video games at all, had the basics [no camera, no texting!] on his phone... He was a bright kid, but not that great with "newfangled contraptions"[he's 23!]. That *was* kind of funny.

No hilarious experiences, but I think technology ruins dating, I had a guy I was talking to who never called, just texted- I hated that. My thumbs can only do so much texting. And then there's Facebook & Myspace- now no one has an excuse to remember your birthday (or even call you to say Happy Birthday), thanks to good old technology. It's good for some things when it comes to dating, but most times it's annoying.

I don't understand. I give out my work number ever. And if the guy emailed her, then he emailed her. She can check that on anything. I think this phrasing is a bit over dramatic. Honestly, i think cell phones make dating easier. You don't have to worry about lost messages, waiting at home for the phone call, or hoping that his roomate does tell him you called.

Ugh. I can't even imagine. When my husband and I started dating I was so involved with grad school I didn't have time to play on all the portals. It was either talking on the phone or in person. I wouldn't respond to his texts and didn't even share my e-mail with him.
