Tiger Woods Apology Lights Up Twitter

Twitter Talk o' the Morning: Tiger Woods's Apology

In case you missed it, earlier this morning Tiger Woods apologized for his recent indiscretions. I'm pretty sure everyone at Sugar HQ stopped what they were doing to watch . . . and they had plenty of ways to tune in. CNN had a live, embeddable broadcast, while YouTube streamed the apology on its CitizenTube channel. Needless to say, folks were all atwitter with their comments, and Tiger was instantly a trending topic (in several different forms, no less) on the microblogging site.

Is it just me, or was this press conference built up to presidential levels? Discuss if you wish below!

Boo hoo sickens me. A public apology is simply ridiculous. The important person---the one he should have been contrite to---was not there. Do American's think that a sports figure is less human than the rest of us? Does an apology undo his actions? Does one make him a bit more marketable? I don't think people really care who he slept with aside from some morbid curiosity....because he appeared to have it all but squandered it for sleazy goings on. It is his wife and kids that I feel badly for. The clips of all this is now on the internet forever. How many of us have done something they are grateful is not on instant replay on the internet for eternity? A public apology was a mistake.

Personally I think it's ridiculous for him to talk about leaving his family out of the spotlight when he is the one that put them in the spotlight to begin with. And this whole situation was definitely overblown media coverage. Why aren't they busy discussing things like the Fed upping the discount rate?

It's all a big publicity stunt. He doesn't need to apologize to anyone except his family. It's a private matter and he should have kept it that way. He's only trying to get his name out there again since people stopped talking about him, that way, when he begins playing again he will have tons of publicity. Also, this makes it ok for women to give their men "permission" to like him again and not feel so threathened that it could happen to them. Bunch of B.S.
