Amid news of a CEO shift at Twitter, the company has announced Promoted Accounts, a new advertising feature that allows brands to gain followers through prominent placement in the Suggestions area of your Twitter page. Similar in theory to Twitter's Promoted Tweets advertising program, Promoted Accounts spotlights certain accounts, designating their sponsored status with the familiar blue checkmark icon. Promoted users are suggested using an algorithm that's based on the users someone follows, so each suggestion should be relevant to your interests (or at least those gleaned by a look at the Twitter accounts you follow). The Promoted Accounts are listed on the right side of your newly redesigned Twitter homepage.
