Website of the Day: Allergy Eats

One of my good friends has a dairy allergy so severe, if she eats or even comes too close to milk, butter, or any other dairy product, she needs to head to the emergency room. The same friend also enjoys eating out, which, as you'd imagine, can not only lead to anxiety among her dining partners (the first time we ate out I stared at her for the first five minutes of her meal to make sure she was OK) — I can't imagine how anxious someone suffering from a severe food allergy must be upon entering a new restaurant!

Enter Allergy Eats. Find out more about it after the break.

Allergy Eats is a crowd-sourced website detailing allergy-friendly restaurants as recommended by your allergy-suffering peers. Search the site for a specific restaurant or just one that's nearby, and rate and review the allergy-friendliness of restaurants you visit. While the site obviously isn't a foolproof way to determine the availability of something safe to eat, it does provide an extra layer of security for allergy sufferers' piece of mind.
