The 1 Major Thing Back to the Future Got Wrong

To be fair, Back to the Future Part II got a lot of things right about 2015. In the iconic 1989 sequel, Marty McFly travels into the future on Oct. 21, 2015, to save his children, and a lot of what he saw is very familiar to us these days: hoverboards, controller-less video games, and video chatting, to name a few. But the film was totally off the mark when it came to one sad casualty of the late-20th century: fax machines.

In a scene from the film where future Marty gets fired, his boss, Ito T. Fujitsu, really drives the point home by faxing Marty a note that simply says, "You're fired!!!" While that would have been an unnecessary use of a fax machine in any decade, it is especially comical now given that fax machines are effectively obsolete in most homes and offices, having been largely replaced by email and less wasteful courier methods.
