What Do You Use Google For ?

Yesterday I talked about Google's fabulous gadget maker which helps you personalize your iGoogle page. I don't know about you, but I've become dependent on way too many Google products... all of which make me feel like I have a virtual assistant! Practically all of Google's nifty tools and services are free, and with such a wide variety, I wonder how some people aren't obsessed like me. What's your favorite Google application? Leave all your comments below!

I love Google. I;m always searching for something and their results are best. ------------------------------------------------------ "I think she's a fantastic actress and I think she's just brilliant in this movie. She moved me to pieces. Basically, she's a nice girl, but she was late a few times." -Jane Fonda on LL

For the longest time, I held out from using Google - not sure why. But when a friend of mine who works for Google sent me a Gmail invite when it was first introduced several years ago, I was instantly converted. My life is run by Google (or, at least my email, calendar, photo organization, mapping ability, searching.... so yeah, basically, my life!).

I use Google primarily for its searches (general searches, video) and Google maps. I have my own domain and I use Firefox to read my mail from that, so I have little use for my Gmail account.

Gmail Google Reader Google Analytics Google Maps Google Alerts Google Product search Google blog search Google image search Picasa Google documents I was using blogger, but i've recently converted to wordpress Within Google.com search you can do the following link:www.geeksugar.com - tells you which sites are linking to geeksugar.com (a little more accurate in yahoo, though) site:www.geeksugar.com - tells you which pages on your site have been indexed by Google - if you have pages in the "omitted results" (aka supplemental index) - then you have what is called duplicate content issues - which can be addressed by seo (aka search engine optimization) techniques

Ok- I am an addict too.I love Google 411. Call an 800 number, get your info texted to your phone. Awesome. Free. But my absolute favorite is Picasa. It integrates in with Picasa Web on the Photos link from your Gmail account. Edit your photo, click Upload to Web Album, and pick which album you want to upload it to, or build a new one, and voila! Instant album your friends don't have to sign up for anything to see. Plus, you simply can't beat it for a free photo editor.I love Docs & Spreadsheets. It's so nice to be able to get info from a computer anywhere.I wish they would purchase zoho.com. It's probably the best google competitor out there. They have free programs to build webforms, CRM tools, project management, you name it. A lot of it is redundant to Google, but a lot of it is probably where the big G is headed. Check it out if you haven't already seen it.

I use GoogleText! It is an absolutely amazing feature. Like if I need the number to my nearest walmart, all i have to do is text 'walmart near (my zip code)' and it will give my all the walmarts near my address including their address and numbers! I just text the message to GOOGLE (466453) It does almost everything: defines words, weather, etc. And it doesn't cost extra, like $1 a text or anything like that! it's just a regular standard text rate. Just go here: http://www.google.com/intl/en_us/mobile/sms/ that will show you what google can do for you! THis changed my life! Hope it changes yours too!
