How a Mom's Facebook Post Ruined a Man's Reputation For Life

Where's the Worst Place You've Used a Smartphone?

Where's the Worst Place You've Used a Smartphone?

The other day I found myself driving across the Golden Gate Bridge and trying to read the new emails on my BlackBerry.

It wasn't my finest moment, but as I weaved through traffic I suddenly realized what I was doing and put my phone down.

I suppose reading something on your cell phone is better than text messaging while driving, but that doesn't make it safe. Smartphones provide unparalleled temptation to browse, text, chat, research, and Google whenever you feel like it, but that doesn't make it all right. Where do you draw the line?

yeah, I don't really like these either (I'd rather have a phone that really worked than all the extra gadgets). I bike on the weekends, and it's the people talking on their cell phones - blind to the world around them - who are the most dangerous! I've nearly been killed by people who are so busy blabbing they don't realize they are driving in the wrong lane, running stop signs, weaving back and forth, etc. (And, I'm a full-on geek otherwise; just - no cell activity when driving people, please!:))

I can't believe people text and drive. There are instances of wrecks due to such irresponsible behavior.

I once googled Kama Sutra on my Crackberry while in the saddle. The browser speed is so slow however, that it ended up "ruining the moment!"

I've never, ever read or text while driving but I did once in the restroom.

I refuse to get a smartphone, so no I don't run into any of these problems. When I do use my cell I make sure I use it in a discrete place and never use it in a highly public place. Don't want people listening to me.

It makes me ill that somebody would endanger the lives of others not through drinking but because they were driving whilst using their cell phone? I use mine responsibly. I don't even walk when texting!
