A Woman Lost $800 Because of What She Posted on Facebook

One thing most social media users know in this day and age is that everything you post on the Internet is up for grabs — including winning tickets. Unfortunately, an Australian woman named Chantelle was too caught up in the excitement of winning a bet in the Melbourne Cup to remember this. After winning her $825 prize, she did what we all do in times of celebration. She took an obligatory selfie with her winning ticket (and barcode) and posted it on Facebook. Most moral people would "like" her photo but one shady "friend" used the image to actually claim the winnings for his or herself.
When Chantelle went to cash out just 15 minutes after posting, her prize had already been claimed. In response, she
wrote on her Facebook, "To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings. You're a massive d*ck. You ruined my day."

Moral of the story: as much as a "massive d*ck" this person was, you should NEVER, and we repeat, NEVER, post a winning anything online that could possibly be stolen by users.
