Yahoo! Rolls Out Suggestive Search

Yahoo's new suggestive search feature is to Google's "Did you mean:" feature. Now when you type in a term in Yahoo's search box, a list of suggestive searches will automatically appear in a drop down box to help you with your search. Since I'm a Google junkie, I can't say I'm going to switch over to Yahoo anytime soon just because of this new search assistant, but I guess if you like having that helping hand to provide you with words and terms for net browsing, you've come to the right place.

I don't like things like this. Especially when I'm typing something in that I know is right (ex: a band name spelled slightly different than a normal word), and it won't have it on the list. I think I would be slightly annoyed at seeing the words come and go as I'm typing.

Google has a suggestive search in it's labs section, it gives suggestions and also an idea of how many times the term was searched. http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en

While I get annoyed by change in general and extra stuff popping up and cluttering my fied of view, I've actually found this somewhat worthwhile.

I remember pre-Google times when Yahoo and AltaVista used to be the ultimate search engines They probably want the old fame back... I wish them luck...
