An Easy Hack That Makes the iPhone So Much Better

Will You Consider Buying a Kindle at Its New Price?

Another price reduction on Amazon's Kindle — this time to $259. It's only been three months since the Kindle's price dropped to $300, and ReadWriteWeb predicts that e-reader sales are expected to increase dramatically, especially over the holiday season.

You've had mixed reactions to buying a Kindle, and when I asked last year, most of you said you weren't interested in buying one. Will that change with a lower price?

I would love to buy one if it went a bit cheaper (under $200 at least) and if they could read RSS feeds as well. I was informed that none of the eReaders can do RSS feeds, and to me it just seems stupid. I can read books and RSS feeds on my phone now, the only reason to get something new is if it was bigger and could handle all of my reading uses.

I am still iffy about these. I know it is so much better for our environment, but the thought of paying that much, plus having to buy all the books you had bought in the past just sucks.

you need a fourth option -- i already bought a kindle and am annoyed that the price keeps dropping!

There's no option for "I want a different brand." I have my eye on a Sony.

@staple salad: It does have that option to read free books from PG. I have downloaded several books from that site and a few other free e-book sites.

I have a book rental subscription on booksfree.com, so this would just add to my bills. Who wants to pay $10 per book when there are other options out there?

FYI for those of you waiting for the price drop you can purchase refurbished Kindles from Amazon for $219 or were interested at a closer to $200 price point. http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=gw_cto_refurbkindle?ie=UTF8&node=1293320011&pf_rd_p=493397411&pf_rd_s=left-nav-2&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=507846&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0CW72ZRFPT99S6655RDH

Great for the people that don't have it, but as someone who paid $369 for my Kindle, the two price drops in less than three months makes me nervous about purchasing anything from Amazon ever again. I can't complain about the fact that they have added new technology to the Kindle 2 as well with the international function, as I know technology upgrades, but the fact that the new tech is $80 less than what I paid for it really does make me angry. I had convinced my boss to get us all the DX's for Christmas so that we didn't have to print out PDF's endlessly and waste paper, but I might have to reconsider that now as I'm not sure if the price is going drop five minutes later.

Still way too expensive for me. Maybe if it had online functions that let you read things from like, Project Guttenberg or something I'd consider that price, but I don't think I'd pay much more than $100 for one.

It would have to be free. I still love my red Sony. I don't read enough to care about the wireless and I still think this could look a lot better.

I want it to go down in price to at least $150 before I buy. I'd really like to get it anyways though since I really don't have much more room for books here (NYC apartment)

I already have one, but had I known it was going to come down in price I would have waited. My husband got it for me out of our tax return Feb 2009 at the old price. I love it but I would have loved it more for $100 less.
