This Man Miraculously Found His iPhone Working After Dropping It From a Plane

We don't know about you, but if our iPhones fell out a plane we'd probably cut our losses and move on — but not this guy. Ben Wilson was flying his Beechcraft Bonanza airplane to his home in Wichita Falls, TX, when the passenger door opened about three inches. "My Wall Street Journal got sucked out of the plane, and I just kept flying because we were close to home," Wilson said to NBC News.

After landing, he realized his phone was missing and used the Find my iPhone app to track it down. Turns out, it survived the 9,300-foot fall and was sitting 90 miles away in Joplin, TX. Not wanting to lose his data, Wilson pursued the hunt and reached the fenced pasture where the iPhone was located. Plot twist — a donkey wanted in on the pursuit. "I climbed the fence and this donkey trotted up to me and looked me right in the eyes," said Wilson. "He would not leave our sides. I think he was trying to help us find the phone."

Somehow, his device only suffered a few corner scratches. With the help of his case that housed an external battery (which was lost in flight), Wilson's iPhone was found in perfect working condition. This miraculous survival story shares the same message as the iPhone that endured a skyscraper fall and the one that lived in the ocean for two months: get a protective smartphone cover ASAP.
