13 Pixar-Themed Gifts For Grown-Up Geeks
The new trailer for Inside Out reminded us why we've missed Pixar so much. It stars Amy Poehler and Bill Hader, and it's so, so good. Toy Story 4 is also on its way. As director John Lasseter said about the news "We love these characters so much; they are like family to us" — and we couldn't agree more. Actually, we're pretty smitten everything Pixar does in general. Aside from the fact that it's an animation studio filled with geeks we love, the classics like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Up, and Monsters, Inc. are definitely on our all-time best movies list (but we're not picking any favorites).
Adulthood probably didn't stop the Pixar-lover in your life from enjoying full-length animated feature films, either, so we've mustered up 13 Pixar-themed gift ideas for grown-up geeks just like us.
The Pixar Touch: The Making of a Company
David Price's The Pixar Touch ($12) tells the rags-to-riches story of the legendary animation company and the "fraternity of geeks" who started it all.
Mike Droidowski Case
Who knew Monsters, Inc.'s Mike Wazowski played for Team Android? This clever iPhone case ($25) comes in sticker, t-shirt, and hoodie forms, too.
The Art of Pixar: 25 Years of Animations
This hardcover ($35) full of complete color scripts and select art from 25 years of Pixar animation makes a great coffee table addition. The comprehensive collection follows the making of every Pixar film to date.
Pixar Minimalist Poster Set
Monsters, Inc., Wall-E, Toy Story, and Ratatouille are stripped down to their bare essentials in this poster set ($45). Each textured cardstock print is 11 by 17 inches with a generous border.
Tertial Ikea Lamp
Luxo Jr., the 1986 short film directed by Toy Story's John Lasseter, is Pixar's most iconic animated feature to date. The tale of the two lamps is even incorporated into the company's logo. Give a Pixar enthusiast a cheeky lookalike Ikea desk lamp ($9).
Up Toy Case
Mr. Frederickson, walker in hand, takes a sweeter mode of transit on this iPhone case ($35). The impact-resistant hard case snaps on in one piece. The print is also available on stretched canvases, stationary cards, iPhone and iPod skins, and paper prints.
Toy Story Jurassic Park Shirt
A mash-up for the ages — Rex of Toy Story with the Jurassic Park logo in one sweet tee ($20). Thank goodness Rex is nothing like the dinos we met in Spielberg's film!
Pixar Short Films Collection 2
This DVD collection ($16), just released earlier this month, includes Pixar's latest short films, which the studio produces to test new ideas, techniques, technologies, and artists. "Day & Night," "La Luna," and "Presto" are just some of the shorts included.
