Letter From the Editor: Introducing PS Balance

Jun 12 2024 - 1:45am

In many ways, POPSUGAR and I have grown up alongside each other. I joined the team in 2015 as an editorial assistant covering trending news across the site. I had just graduated from college, and the internet was a roaring cacophony.

For the better part of a decade, I reported on whatever topic everyone was talking about, from dance challenges to celebrity drama and presidential debates. I like to say I became a seasoned generalist, but really, I just loved not being tied to one particular "beat." Like our readers, my passions are expansive and always evolving: I care about the gender pay gap and the gamification of dating apps, and I've also never missed an episode of the Real Housewives (yes, every city). I'm planning my next trip as I put down roots and contemplate what the path to home ownership might look like. I firmly believe that life's all about balance.

That's why I'm pleased to introduce PS Balance, where we don't necessarily subscribe to the myth of "having it all," but we do believe in the art of getting it together. This vertical is here to help you nurture a life that's bold, fulfilling, and better balanced — emotionally, relationally, financially, and professionally. Through expert advice, editor experiments, impactful essays, and informed reporting, we help readers show up in their relationships, at work, and, perhaps most importantly, for themselves.

Here's what you can expect from PS Balance.

We embrace the idea that no topic is off limits, and we know that no one's experience is exactly the same. That's why we promise to give you multiple POVs to help you make decisions about some of life's most sensitive and important topics. We promise to speak to you as a whole, complicated human — whether you're a parent or childless by choice, single or partnered, changing careers or plotting an early retirement, a type A organizer or a proud maximalist, a solo adventurer or a homebody. Wherever life takes you, we'll be here.
